SINGING GUITAR

Has been playing guitar for more than 25 years, and teaching groups and individuals for 15 years. During this time she has been developing her lesson plans in the field, first on a voluntary basis, and then in schools, and with individuals... She has a Diploma of Education, including music units at university level, as well as experience with other instruments in orchestras and groups. She has used her guitar in primary and secondary school, for after-school care, church, creche and Sunday School, and for sing-a-long parties. She has three grown sons who are all accomplished guitarists...

THE LESSON BOOK has been developed through experience, and has proved to be of real value to students. The lessons are for those beginning guitar, but will also be valuable for those wanting to improve their skills. It is a good introduction to all styles of guitar playing – classical, jazz, even bass guitar. It teaches basic strumming and chords, to accompany the singing of known songs. It also contains reference charts for musical concepts, which will continue to be of use once the guitar is mastered. It uses a good range of old time songs as exercises for learning techniques, and an index which includes other song suggestions for each key.

There is a valuable lesson plan sequence which will help mark your progress, and a certificate to be completed when these are finished.

There are extra lessons included, which teach more complicated rhythm and chords, and some bass and finger picking. It also has introductory pages to music reading, and playing notes on guitar – including an explanation of tablature. It also gives ideas of what will be needed when playing with other musicians.
